Who we are

THE APP FORGE (CIPC K2026687489) operates Comms Forge, a messaging product for email, SMS and WhatsApp. This policy covers Comms Forge and the contact and message records it stores for organisations that use it.

For questions about this policy or your personal information, contact wesseldavel1@gmail.com.

What we collect

  • Your name, mobile number and email address.
  • The content of messages between you and an organisation on WhatsApp, SMS and email, including messages you send and messages they send you.
  • Delivery information from the network — whether a message was sent, delivered, read, or failed, and when.
  • Your contact preferences, including any request to stop receiving messages.
  • If you hold a Comms Forge account, the email and name you sign in with, and the organisation memberships attached to that account.

Why we use it

To run Comms Forge: deliver messages an organisation asks us to send, show that organisation its inbox and delivery records, honour opt-outs, and keep operator accounts working.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Only with the service providers that make the messaging work, and only so far as they need it: Meta Platforms (WhatsApp Business Cloud API), our email and SMS delivery providers, and our cloud hosting and database providers. Each processes the data on our instruction.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

Where it is stored

On managed cloud infrastructure, which may place servers outside South Africa. Where information is transferred across a border we rely on the provider's contractual safeguards, as permitted by POPIA.

How long we keep it

Message and delivery records are kept while the organisation that sent or received them remains a customer, and for as long afterwards as the law requires. If a record must be kept, we will say so when you ask us to delete it.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct or delete information that is wrong or no longer needed;
  • object to us using your information for a particular purpose;
  • withdraw consent to marketing messages at any time; and
  • complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.

Some information we must keep even if you ask us to delete it — for example records we are legally required to retain. Where that applies we will tell you which information, and why.

Stopping messages

Reply STOP to any WhatsApp or SMS message, use the unsubscribe link on any email, or email wesseldavel1@gmail.com. We record the request against your contact record and stop marketing messages. An organisation may still contact you about an active agreement where they are required or entitled to do so.

Deleting your data
